Parts of Highway 40 are closed in St. Louis - Belleville News Democrat

Eastbound Highway 40 and several ramps in downtown St. Louis will be closed this weekend as part of ongoing bridge repair work.

The Missouri Department of Transportation reported that all lanes of eastbound Highway 40, officially known as Interstate 64, from Jefferson Avenue to Sixth Street were closed at 8 p.m. Friday.

In addition, the ramps from Pine Street, Forest Park and Ewing to eastbound Highway 40 were closed Friday.

The detour for these closures will be to take Jefferson to Interstate 44.

All lanes and ramps are scheduled to reopen by 8 p.m. Sunday.

Today, crews will open one lane of eastbound Highway 40 to the 14th Street exit at 6 p.m. to allow for fans to drive to the St. Louis Blues home game.

One lane on westbound Highway 40 between Sixth and Jefferson will be closed from 5 a.m. to 8 p.m. today and Sunday. During that same time, either the ramp from Broadway to westbound Highway 40 or the ramp from 10th Street to I-64 will be closed. Both ramps will not be closed at the same time.

Motorists will experience delays during this work and are encouraged to use alternate routes. For more information about the closures call 888-ASK-MODOT or visit www.modot.org.
