Poor Timing of Announcement

(KMOV)--The 2011 St. Louis Cardinals taught me two valuable lessons I try to apply to everyday life.  One, never give up, and two, don’t jump to conclusions.  However, with the St. Louis Rams set to play in London once a year for the next three years, I can’t help but think this could be the early stages of the Rams departing St. Louis for good. 

From a business standpoint, I understand what Stan Kroenke is trying to accomplish by improving the Rams’ brand overseas, but from a football standpoint, it doesn’t make sense.  During Jeff Fisher’s press conference, Kroenke failed to reassure fans that he’s 100-percent committed to St. Louis which added more speculation to the Rams possibly moving.  And now with the latest news of the Rams playing in England for three straight years I have to say the future of football in St. Louis appears cloudy, especially because NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell has made it known he’d eventually like to see a NFL franchise based there.   

The timing of this announcement was terrible.  What did the Rams think was going to happen, season ticket holders would like the idea of losing a home game? (Maybe if this was last season they would; cheap shot, sorry).  Either way, when Jeff Fisher was announced as the new head coach, there was finally something Rams fans could get excited about, but now, the news of the Rams playing over the pond for three straight years, again fueling more speculation they could eventually be on their way out; bad, bad timing.  

 If the Rams played in London just next year, or the following year, I would be fine with that, but not three straight seasons.   I doubt the game will be an extremely, extremely close one, but who wouldn’t have wanted to see Tom Brady and the Patriots live at the Edward Jones Dome?   Like I mentioned, it most likely won’t be a tight game, but the whole aura and hype that the Patriots surface would have been entertaining for fans to experience in person.
