COLUMBIA, Mo. - No James Franklin, no problem for now.
Missouri's back-up quarterbacks stole the annual Black and Gold scrimmage Saturday at Faurot Field in Columbia. Red-shirt freshman Corbin Berkstresser and sophomore Ashton Glaser combined to throw for 400 yards and three touchdowns. Starting quarterback James Franklin did not play, recovering an injury to his shoulder during spring drills.
Running-back is another position Mizzou must answer before the start of the 2012 season. All-Big 12 performer Henry Josey remains questionable for the start of the season, after he injured his knee at the end of the 2011 season. Marcus Murphy led the Tigers rushing attack in the Black and Gold game with 10 carries for 87 yards. Kendial Lawrence added 69 yards on six carries.
Marcus Lucas led the Tigers with four catches for 81 yards. T.J. Moe added 65 yards and a touchdown. Reserve Jimmie Hunt caught three passes for 110 yards and a touchdown.
Mizzou also revealed its new uniforms for the upcoming season. The Nike branded uniforms are the traditional black and gold. However, the helmets are missing the traditional "M".
Missouri will open its first season in the Southeastern Conference September 1 against Southeastern Louisiana.
