COLUMBIA, Mo. - Mizzou's Marcus Denmon is leaving one winner for another.
The NBA's San Antonio Spurs selected the University of Missouri guard with the 59th selection in the second-round of the NBA Draft. Denmon led the Tigers in scoring the past two seasons.
"It's an honor!!!," tweeted Denmon after the draft.
The Kansas City native averaged 17.7 points per game in his senior season for the Tigers. Denmon earned all-Big 12 Conference first-team honors in both his junior and senior seasons. The 6'3" guard shot better than 40-percent from behind three-point-range. He ranked second in the Big 12 Conference, shooting nearly 90-percent from the free throw line.
He joins a veteran Spurs team that sported the NBA's best overall record in the 2011-2012 season. The Spurs lost to rival Oklahoma City in the Western Conference Championship.
Denmon joins teammate Kim English as Mizzou teammates drafted in the second-round.
