St. Louis Cardinals Vs. Kansas City Royals 6/15/12: Tyrone's Free ... - Sports Chat Place

Missouri's state bragging rights begin Friday with the 33-31 St. Louis Cardinals greeting the 27-34 Kansas City Royals at Busch Stadium. St. L bounced back from a tough 6-1 loss to the 34-29 Chicago White Sox on Tuesday to win Game Two 1-0 and Game Three 5-0.

Thursday's affair saw David Freese double in Allen Craig and then homered in himself along with Craig an inning later. Mike Adams also drove in Craig and Daniel Descalso during the bottom of the fifth. The Cards ended with four more hits, 9-5, than Chicago.

KC wasn't as fortunate scoring-wise however Brandon Pena's two-run walk-off single won the Royals the game 4-3 over the 29-34 Milwaukee Brewers who could not avoid being swept. The home team scored their first two runs on Eric Hosmer's home run during the sixth inning.

Kansas City's 2-1 Vin Mazzaro with a 3.60 ERA goes next from the hill. The Royals are 1-2 with Mazzaro on the road losing 5-0 at Chicago. The 32-30 Pittsburgh Pirates and 37-26 Texas Rangers discarded seven runs, six earned, during eight away innings by Mazzaro who fell 5-3 to Pittsburgh and toppled Texas 7-4. St. Louis is 9-for-24 with four RBIs, three from Matt Holliday, on Mazzaro.

6-1 Kyle Lohse with a 2.90 ERA has recaptured his April dominance by going 1-0 with two stout June starts against the 32-30 Cleveland Indians and at the 35-29 New York Mets conceding a run during 13.2 innings. In April, Lohse has four wins with his best game a seven-inning no-run no-decision versus the 35-27 Cincinnati Reds. The 21-42 Chicago Cubs, Milwaukee and 31-34 Philadelphia Phillies compiled 11 runs, 10 earned, during 19 innings.

The Cardinals are 4-1 with Lohse on the mound, but two of their wins did come by a run. KC is 12-for-50 with four RBIs against Lohse. The Royals are better away than at home and with the game at St. L, I see Kansas City continuing to flex their muscle on the road.
