Former Titans coach Jeff Fisher has been looking to get back in the game, and according to a report out of St. Louis, heâs nearing a decision, choosing the St. Louis Rams as his next head coaching gig.
Howard Balzer of 101sports.com reports that Fisher, who had narrowed to down his choices to the Rams and Miami Dolphins, is very close to choosing St. Louis. The decision isnât final, Balzer writes, but Fisher likes the Ramsâ roster and is on the verge of making a decision.
Fisher had a long, long run as the Titansâ head coach, taking over in 1994 when they were the Houston Oilers. He was the longest-tenured head coach in the NFL when he and the Titans mutually agreed to a buyout in January 2011. He walked away with a career record of 142-120.
The Rams went a dreadful 2-14 this season and havenât had a winning season since 2003. Thereâs hope for the franchise down the road, however, as rising star quarterback Sam Bradford should be back in 2012, fully recovered from the high ankle sprain that dogged him this season.
