St. Louis Cardinals’ Allen Craig recovering after knee surgery â€" MLB News

The St. Louis Cardinals’ outfielder Allen Craig expressed his optimism on Monday, January 16, that he will be joining the team by April. Having had knee surgery, the outfielder is fast recuperating, getting everything set for the bigger challenge that lies ahead.

For now, as news reports have surfaced, the player is in Florida for rehabilitation work. Considering the nature of injury that he suffered, the regimen he is following, without any doubt, will be helpful in the long term for a full recovery.

The decision to go for knee surgery was not certainly easy for the player. Prior to switching to this option, he spoke to multiple surgeons to get an idea of what will be the aftermath of it. If he thought of avoiding the surgery, it will prove to be costlier than thought by the player.

Nonetheless, his rehab is going well now as reported. While speaking on rehab, Craig said he was feeling great with a full range of motion available to him now. He also said he was not expecting to be doing that well at this point.

"I feel great," Craig said on Monday. "Standing here now I have full range of motion. I'm walking fine. I'm doing light body squats. I didn't expect to be doing that at this point. Obviously, time tables are tough because you don't know what's going to happen in the future. I'm just taking it one day at a time, but I am kind of surprised with how good I feel at this point."

Allen Craig shall be all ready for Spring Training which is scheduled for the next month. He does not, however, conceal the fact that stiffness and pain is there.

"It took me a while to prepare for the games, to get warmed up. It was just stiff, a little sharp pain here or there.”

The outfielder, who had a .315 batting average in 75 of the games that he appeared in, includes four homers in the postseason games, apart from the 11 homers in the regular season. The Cardinals will be hoping that Craig makes a full recovery and makes a positive impact in the upcoming season.
