St. Louis Rams Complete Their Coaching Staff, Sans Gregg Williams - Turf Show Times

The St. Louis Rams have officially announced their coaching staff for the 2012 NFL season. This is the culmination of a process that began with the hiring of Jeff Fisher in February.

One name not on the list is defensive coordinator Gregg Williams. The first assistant hired, Williams is out indefinitely thanks to his "kill the head" bounty scandal between 2009-2011 with the New Orleans Saints.

Three coaches are directly under Fisher: Dave McGinnis, assistant head coach; John Fassel, special teams coordinator; and Brian Scottenheimer, offensive coordinator.

The rest of the staff flows out of those three, with McGinnis sort of an acting defensive coordinator in the wake of Williams' exile. Of the other coaches, two on the list are new announcements.

• Gullickson, Bailey and Sugarman are the only holdovers from the previous coaching staff.
• Paul Boudreau, Jr. and Joe Bowden are the only new announcements to the staff.
• Williams' son, Blake, and Fisher's son, Brandon, give the coaching staff some bloodlines. Brandon Fisher was with the Lions last season, and Blake Williams came from the Saints.
• Boras, the TE coach, spent the last two seasons in the same job with the Jaguars, and the Bears prior to that.
• This is the first NFL job for Boudreau, Jr., who was the quarterbacks coach/passing game coordinator at Widener University in Chester, PA, last year.
• Sugarman makes sense as a holdover; he is responsible for the film breakdown of opponents, self-scouting and leading the scout defense in practice. He also helps with receivers, according to the Rams' press release.
