St. Louis Rams 'Deep' At Wide Receiver - Turf Show Times

Last seaon, the finger pointed at the Rams offensive woes as being one of the team's points of failure. The wide receiver corps is typically in the conversations of Rams fans who reminisce about - and pine for - the Torry Holt and Isaac Bruce days-of-old. Whether it be the non-existance of a 'number one wide receiver,' or the inability to hold onto the ball, the position has been a top priority for the Rams for several seasons now. And though it hasn't been for lack of attention in the draft, the results have yet to meet the expectations

The Rams lost their top deep threat receiver, Brandon Lloyd, in free agency. They look to regain the services of Danny "The Elbow" Amendola this season. Outside of that, the Rams have a slew of guys who are either too injured to stay on the field, or too inconsistent in their on-field performance for most fans to stomach for another season.

2011 draft picks, Lance Kendricks, Austin Pettis, and Greg Salas have all shown differing levels of talent and - provided they can stay healthy - still have a shot to shine in an offense that looks (and hopes) to be vastly improved in the 2012 season. The aforementioned, however, were selected by the old regime, and though their youth and talent levels should still onto hold on their roster spots, they were not hand selected by new head coach, Jeff Fisher or new GM Les Snead.

To the dismay of many - and delight of others - the Rams didn't draft Justin Blackmon in this most recent draft. The Jaguars 'jumped' at the opportunity to snag him. The Rams decided to trade back, ultimately drafting Michael Brockers at #14. The draft was certainly not void of capable wide receiving prospects. In what some may consider a surprise selection, the Rams took Brian Quick at the top of the 2nd round, and later selected speedster Chris Givens in the 4th.

Taking all of this into consideration, would you say the Rams have depth at the position? Adam Lazarus, from Bleacher Report, does. Not only does he think the Rams are deep at wide receiver, but he highlights them as THE team who has the MOST depth at the position.....in the entire NFL. We'd be kidding ourselves to say we have the best, but do we have the deepest WR corp? Does having depth equate to on-field success, or is it just a safeguard against imminent injury?
