Few people understand the need for optimism better than Ryan Van Bibber, who edits Turf Show Times, so I wasn't surprised to see his byline on this SB Nation piece detailing why every team in the NFC will make the playoffs. Even the St. Louis Rams! His explanation is logical enough: The rest of the NFC West isn't especially strong, they're bound to get better with Jeff Fisher and company at the helm, and their defense has gotten much stronger.
That's a recipe for a bunch of unlikely 14-10 wins and a 9-7 finish, at the top endâ"not especially fun to watch, but the possibility of a playoff berth legitimately exists, especially if Sam Bradford finally delivers on some of that long-lost potential he displayed back at Oklahoma. This is exactly the kind of bad team that is able to look like a good team for months at a time by slowing play down and limiting the number of chances a more talented offense has to put them away.
Of course, that's what's fun about training camp seasonâ"it legitimately exists for nearly everybody, even the St. Louis Rams.
