St. Louis Cardinals' Fans Can See Tony LaRussa at Two ARF Events - Yahoo! Sports

Tony LaRussa's 16 years in St. Louis rubbed off on him. Even though the venerable manager retired from the St. Louis Cardinals back in early November, he still finds time to connect with Cardinals' fans. The landmark Peabody Opera House in St. Louis hosts a charity event with LaRussa and Bob Costas.

Fans get a special treat when they can ask the manager questions about why he does things and how certain plays or games unfolded throughout the 2011 MLB season. Legendary broadcaster and St. Louis resident Costas will emcee the event.

Tickets are still on sale. Proceeds benefit LaRussa's Animal Rescue Foundation (ARF) as well as several local animal charities. Tickets for all seats are $25 apiece and are on sale through Ticketmaster.

Called "2011 World Seriesâ€"A Champ's Perspective," the event starts at 7 p.m. and will end when the questions stop. There will be video highlights throughout the playoff run and late in the regular season as LaRussa will explain how he strategizes baseball.

The evening will be a great way for fans to connect to the future Hall of Fame manager. The following night on Jan. 14, LaRussa will host another fundraiser for his charity. "Stars to the Rescue" is a benefit concert starting at 6:30 p.m. that will feature singers from the Eagles and the Doobie Brothers. LaRussa will be in attendance for that event as well.

Tickets for the "Stars to the Rescue" event start at $22 for the cheap seats and $247 for better viewing. Proceeds from this event will go towards many local charities in addition to ARF.

There may also be some unannounced stars that show up as well. Keep in mind that David Freese, the 2011 World Series MVP, is a local boy who lives in St. Louis. Don't be surprised if he is there helping out his former skipper.

Getting to see the busy LaRussa is always a treat. I'm still hoping he will come down to Springfield when the St. Louis club plays AA Springfield in early April. The team was supposed to play last year but the game was rained out.

William Browning was born in St. Louis and is a lifelong St. Louis Cardinals fan. He currently resides in Branson, Mo.
